Woven
Blinds
There
are different types of woven blinds. Among the most common of
these blinds are woven wood, woven grass, and woven
bamboo.
Woven
blinds made of wood make use of narrow sticks. That is why they
are also called matchstick blinds. These well-smoothened sticks
are tightly woven together and hence make a good
insulator.
Woven
blinds made of grass or reeds usually have optional room
darkening liners for privacy. But if you want them as is, these
blinds provide for a cool ambience. They also allow you to see
outlines of the outside scenery through the narrow
slits.
Woven
blinds made of bamboo are the preferred types of matchstick
blinds as they are easier to form into narrow sticks. They are
also generally more pliant than most woods.
Some
woven blinds are made up of a collection of sticks and grass
with varying sizes for a more natural look. To further
accentuate the natural look, natural and man-made fibers are
used to weave the pieces together.
In most
cases, the lift cord is located between the valance and the
blind material and is typically of the same fibers as the ones
used to weave the pieces together. Otherwise, if of a different
material, it is painted so as to make it blend with the blind’s
colors.
